According to the Daily Mail the average woman takes 27 steps to do their make up compared to just 8 only a decade ago.
A decade ago, looking at the beauty icons of yesteryear, I would always notice thinner eyebrows and shorter lashes. Overall there was less competition towards perfection. The style icon of today, possibly Kim Kardashian is not just full in he behind, but she is always pictured with full eyebrows, thick lashes and flawless make-up. It is no wonder we have 3 TIMES as many steps to get ready then ten years ago.
In 2006 the average woman would have 8 STEPS and take 17 minutes to get her war paint on.
In 2017 the average woman has 27 steps and 40 minutes to look her best.
This is just staggering!! I think there has been two monumental factors in this trend. Firstly treatments like HD Brows and Facial Contouring have taken the possibilities of make to an atsronomical new level. The results can be quite unbelievable (when applied properly).
Secondly and most importantly, the continual rise of social media, in particular Instagram. We constantly see perfectly made-up faces daily on all the celebrities we love and sometimes at the times you think its least possible, when they are #justshopping or #lazysundays.
What we sometimes forget is that us mortals don't have a make-up team at hand so that we look amazing at all times. So if we do want that celeb look, which deep down inside we would all admit to, we need to spend more and more time to catch the unattainable. In my opinion this trend is likely to get worse. Unless we have more treatments which solve make-up semi permanently like microblading & ombre.
